Improved Nonlinear Robust Adaptive Backstepping Controller Design for Generator Excitation Systems

Abstract

An improved robust adaptive backstepping sliding mode control based on error compensation (RABSMCEC) method with a κ-class function is proposed for the single machine infinite bus (SMIB) system with the excitation control. First, we build a model for the excitation system. Since there are unknown parameters in the system model, an adaptive backstepping control method is introduced. In order to overcome the effect of internal and external disturbances, the robust sliding mode control method based on error compensation is added to the adaptive backstepping algorithm. On the basis of the above methods, we use κ-class functions to improve the convergence rate of the system. Then, we use the improved RABSMCEC method to design the robust controller and adaptive law. Finally, the simulation results show that the improved RABSMCEC method has better steady and transient performance.
