Abstract

The structural model proposed previously for calcium dibarium bis(hydrogenphosphate) bis(dihydrogenphosphate) from X-ray powder data is confirmed by the present single-crystal study. The structure consists of infinite [Ca(HPO 4 ) 2 (H 2 PO 4 ) 2 ] anionic chains built up from CaO 6 , HPO 4 and H 2 PO 4 polyhedra linked via Ca-O-P bonds. These chains are held together by nine-coordinate Ba 2+ cations. A two-dimensional network of hydrogen bonds contributes to the linkage of these chains.
