Abstract

Abstract The reaction of WCl 4 (PMe 3 ) 3 with LiAlH 4 in refluxing THF (48 h) leads to one of the title compounds, (Ia) (with bridging butoxide groups arising from the cleavage of THF by aluminium hydride), whereas in Et 2 O (20°C, 2h) the product (Ib) is formed.
