A Compact Reconfigurable Dual band mm-wave 5G Antenna

Abstract

A highly compact (volume of only 6 × 6 × 0. 26 = 9. 36 mm 3 ) frequency reconfigurable antenna for millimeter-wave (mm-wave) 5G band is proposed. The antenna consists of a metallic switch which aids in frequency reconfiguration. With the help of this switch antenna is capable to operate in two modes (i.e. "ON" and "OFF"). Under "ON" condition operations at 25.4 and 34.2 GHz are obtained, while, in "OFF" condition operations at 29.5 GHz and 36.3 GHz are obtained, respectively. High gain, stable radiation performance and simple design are the added advantage of the proposed mm-wave 5G antenna.
