Abstract

As technology becomes increasingly available and digital information expands on a daily basis, academic library use is on the decline. A nationwide report in March 2004 indicated that over the previous 10 year period, overall library usage declined 21% and circulation fell 35%. The report further claimed that libraries within the United Kingdom could be unused and irrelevant by 2020. Research libraries on college and university campuses are finding that “gate counts and circulation of traditional materials are falling at many college libraries across the country, as students find new study spaces in dorm rooms or apartments, coffee shops, or nearby bookstores. the era of a new type of library with a new structure of knowledge and practical use such as digital library, e-library, multimedia library, virtual library, hybrid library etc. a library that existed only on the internet without any kind of physical presence at all. So that physical use may have been reasonably expected to decline in recent years. So where does all of this leave the real libraries—with real buildings, real collections of paper books, real librarians and staff, and the millions of real people who use them? It is we, the librarians, who came up with the whole idea of equitable access to information, who knew it was important to preserve the written record, to find ways of identifying it and making it accessible. Augmented Reality and Interactive Print, helping to bridge the gap between the print and digital worlds and Layar app helps to convert print material into interactive print material [3]. This paper shows that how to convert print material into interactive print material using Layar app. Keywords: Layar apps, Augmented Reality App, Academic library Cite this Article Santosh Kharat.
