Abstract

The need for water is increasing due to the increase in human needs. The access to water is difficult in the isolated and remote area; so the need of installing the water PV standalone system is necessary. The present paper presents a standalone photovoltaic water pumping system. The effect of the optimum design of a PV water pumping system and the influence of metrological conditions of Adrar city of Algeria on the performance of the system was studied. The aim of this research is to establish the optimal configuration of PV array to aliment the pump motor with the adequate energy. Four configurations were used (1Ns×4Np, 1Ns×3Np, 1Ns×2Np, and 1Ns×1Np) under the metrological conditions of Adrar site, Algeria. The daylight hours of sunny days of July, August, October and November 2017 was used for the experimentation installed in a well for pumping head of 14.52m. The best total system and pump efficiency have been obtained for the installation of one (1Ns×4Np).
