An Energy Efficient Data Gathering for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

In the last decade, Wireless Sensor Networks and its applications have obtained considerable momentum. However, due to limitations in these networks there are many issues still need solutions. One of these issues is the throughput of WSN during its life. In this study, popular solutions for network data bandwidth and data gathering in WSNs are studied and compared. The proposed Bandwidth Efficient Cluster-based Data Aggregation (BECDA) algorithm presents the solution for the effective data gathering with in-network aggregation. The simulation of BECDA are done based on Power Efficient GAthering in Sensor (PEGASIS) and Energy Efficient Low Energy Adaptive (EE-LEACH) are presented. The simulation indicators are studied and compared showing the performance (throughput) of sensor networks.
