Abstract

One of the term that can be heard lot in the networking world these days is IoT or Internet of Things. The internet of things is changing much about the world people live in from the way they drive to how they make purchases and even how they get energy for their homes and many more. On the other hand, incidents due to industrial hazard are common leading to loss of life, health or property. So an attempt is made to develop an intelligent system for industrial hazard monitoring using IoT which will be useful to the society by reducing the effects of hazard to a great extent. So keeping this in mind an IoT based hazard monitoring system is implemented using raspberry-pi as the gateway node which receives the data from a heterogeneous network to monitor the readings of different nodes. Sensor data is stored into a MySQL database using MQTT as the messaging protocol. Also focus is laid on periodically collecting the data which can be accessed by the end users using a dynamic web page with an option for graphical view of the data. Moreover, a notification system using AWS IoT platform is implemented for alert situations. Furthermore, interoperability among the end nodes is taken into account by proposing a method which will remove the dependency on a particular vendor along with its own data format.
