Designing of Highly Sensitive Fiber Bragg Grating Based Volume Refractive Index Sensors for Biochemical applications

Abstract

in this paper, detail study of optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) based sensors are illustrated. Sensitivity and specificity are the most important factors of any sensors for biochemical applications. Analysis of Sensitivity of FBG based sensors with distinct novel techniques are discussed in this paper. Numerical results show highly sensitive sensor can be developed for diverse biochemical sensing applications. Merits and demerits of these sensors are being discussed accordingly. In this work, it has been proposed that with reduction of clad diameter sensitivity of core and cladding modes are enhanced significantly. Sensitivity of cladding mode is enhanced further with nanostructured coating. Which will be very useful in different chemical and biological applications.
