Substrate Integrated Waveguide Leaky Wave Antenna with Continuous Beam Steering

Abstract

In this paper substrate integrated waveguide leaky wave antenna operating in the frequency range of 10-15.7 GHz using asymmetric slots is presented. The unit cell consist of a combination of transverse and longitudinal slots on the top layer of the substrate integrated waveguide as a series and shunt radiating elements respectively. A asymmetric technique is used to mitigate the open stop band. The antenna continuously steers the main beam from -48 o to 18 o to including broadside at 13.5 GHz with a maximum gain of 13 dBi.
