OPTICAL ABSORPTION EDGE INVESTIGATIONS IN Sn2P2S6 AND SnP2S6 CRYSTALS

Abstract

Temperature variation of optical absorption edge of Sn 2 P 2 S 6 ferroelectric with “three-dimensional” (3D) crystal structure and of SnP 2 S 6 crystal with layered (2D) structure, was studied. The anisotropy of Urbach edge parameters and their temperature behaviour in the range of phase transition in Sn 2 P 2 S 6 crystal, was investigated. The effect of various types of disordering, as well as 3D→2D transition, upon the energy position and shape of absorption edge in Sn 2 P 2 S 6 and SnP 2 S 6 crystals, was analyzed.
