A CPW-Fed Ultra-Wideband MIMO Antenna with T-Shape Slot Ground

Abstract

A CPW-fed ultra-wideband multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) antenna with T-shape slot ground having the overall size of 23.73 mm ×50.53 mm only, is presented in this paper. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of two orthogonally placed elliptic antenna elements excited by coplanar waveguide structures. The proposed MIMO antenna have 17dB high isolation for the whole operating band. The antenna operates from 3.2GHz to 8GHz. Furthermore, the T-shape slot has etched at ground of antenna. The T-shape slot not only further reduces the minimum operating frequency of the antenna but also expand the bandwidth about 8GHz. In this arrangement, the antenna operates from 3.1GHz to 15GHz. By inserting the parasitic strip between the two grounds, the antenna bandwidth expands from 3.1GHz to 16.8GHz. The observed isolation is from 17.3dB to the 20dB.
