The proliferation of access to the network through smart phones and wireless devices has become a major issue with the need of high data capacity and frequency spectrum. Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) has accommodated this need by expanding the capacity and efficiency spectrum usage over a single carrier frequency, which is called heterogeneous co-channel deployment. The heterogeneous networks combining large with small cells give the opportunity to the users to connect to the high performing cell with high data rates. There are there cell selection techniques, namely SINR, RSRP and RSRQ proposed in LTE. In this work, all these three cell selections are investigated using Matlab based on the actual parameter values. The CQI (Channel Quality Indicator) Mapping and Scheduling are proposed based on the realistic scenario. The success ratio of network accessing, throughput and interference are evaluated. Additionally, the average regional SINR, RSRP and RSRQ are analyzed. According to the simulation results, it is obvious that the cell selection based on SINR and RSRQ methods provides the better performance than RSRP for all performance evaluation metrics. For instance, the success ratios of cell selection method based on SINR and RSRQ are more than 95%, which are much higher than that of RSRP and almost identical for all cells.
