Flexible Hybrid Energy Harvesting System to Power Wearable Electronics

Abstract

This paper contains the design procedure of flexible dual band rectenna along with a solar cell. The textile rectenna element harvests the electromagnetic energy at 4.65GHz and 6.85 GHz of INSAT frequencies. In addition to rectenna, a single flexible solar cell is used to harvest solar energy which makes the design hybrid harvesting system. This hybrid system could be integrated into clothing and accessories to charge the wearable electronic devices. A DC-DC step-up converter with maximum power point control (MPPT) is used to control over the charging.
