A Two Element H-plane Hemispherical Dielectric Resonator Antenna Array

Abstract

In this paper, a 1×2 H-plane hemispherical dielectric resonator antenna (HDRA) array is studied. Direct microstrip line (DML) fed technique is employed to excite the antenna elements. Firstly, we have designed an HDRA fed by DML. Next, we have designed a 1×2 dielectric resonator antenna with parallel feeding networks. Parallel feeding technique has been realized using a 3 dB power diver for equal power distributions in each antenna element. The single element antenna resonates at 6.4 GHz and offers impedance bandwidth of 6.25 %. This single element antenna gives peak gain of 5.4 dBi. For two elements antenna arrays, the impedance bandwidth and peak gain have been observed as 5.9 % and 8.11 dBi.
