Trabajo social chileno y dictadura militar. Memoria profesional y prácticas de olvido

Abstract

This paper presents the results of interuniversity research project that contributes to the rescue of social work professional memory during the period 1973-1990, in the context of the military dictatorship. An integrated analysis of the practices of forgetting is presented from the categories of terror, infliction, censorship, omissions and expertez proposed by Mendoza (2005, p.10-25). These practices were promoted from outside the boundaries of the professional group, for instances of power and repression that prevented the memories of significant events were preserved in top form, creating and official report that offers a unique account of the past that normalizes trauma enhancing oblivion through the standardization of critical event.
