A wideband circularly-polarized crossed dipole antenna

Abstract

In this paper, a wideband circularly-polarized (CP) crossed dipole antenna is investigated, which is composed of four L-shaped strip radiators and a double vacant-quarter ring. The wide CP bandwidth comes from two CP methods' combination, in terms of the element CP mode and the array CP mode. Simulation results show that the proposed antenna has a 10-dB impedance bandwidth of 72.6%, covering the frequency range from 5.0 GHz to 10.7 GHz, and 3-dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 72.6%, covering the frequency range from 5.5 GHz to 10.5 GHz.
