An Improved Interleaved DC-DC Converter with Zero Voltage Switching Operation

Abstract

This paper presents an improved interleaved DC-DC converter (IDC) with zero voltage switching (ZVS) operation. The ZVS is realized by adding small auxiliary inductors and snubber capacitors. The small auxiliary inductors are used to realize zero voltage turn-on and the snubber capacitors are used to realize zero voltage turn-off of the main switch. The ZVS can be achieved in the entire load range by changing the negative current of the auxiliary inductors. The working principle is analyzed in detail with a buck type IDC and a prototype converter rated at 1.6 kW is built to verify the improved converter.
