Ultra-low sidelobe and high gain millimeter wave microstrip array antenna

Abstract

This paper represents two types of millimeter wave microstrip array antenna, which have linearly polarized(LP) and circularly polarized(CP) respectively. Both the two array antennas have 144 elements and operate well at 26GHz. The arrays, have excellent performance with maximum gain of 24dBi and ultra-low sidelobe of less than -23dB. In order to generate CP electromagnetic wave, a narrow slot is etched off the square patch, and two isosceles triangles are cut on the diagonal of the patch. The corresponding simulation results of these two array antennas are shown in this paper.
