Abstract

This paper reports the facile Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) approach to synthesize highly porous ZnO nanostructures and analysis of their structural, optical, metallic vibrations and morphology by convenient characterizations. X-ray diffraction profile represents highly crystalline single phase of ZnO nanostructures. The unique architecture of ZnO nanostructures has been investigated for photocatalytic activity towards various organic dyes. Photocatalytic degradation tests showed that as prepared nanostructures exhibit excellent degradation efficiency towards Methylene Blue (MB dyes) as compared to other dyes under the presence of visible irradiation. Furthermore, growth mechanism of ZnO has been proposed.
