Abstract

Short and middle wave bands which belong to electromagnetic spectrum contain some useful information regarding the characterization of combustion reactions and their products like exhaust plume from internal combustion engines. Those information can be obtained with the help of a hyperspectral camera that operates by Fourier-transform spectroscopy (IFTS). In this paper, measurement of automobile exhaust gases which are originated from the combustion reaction occurred in the engine cylinder, is explained; also it is aimed to identify the combustion products. For a specific automobile configuration in which the fuel can be either gasoline or auto gas, exhaust products are monitored in different torque values with a hyperspectral camera and the generated hyperspectral data sets are processed to identify plume gases.
