Extra electron reflections observed in YFe2O4, YbFe2O4, Yb2Fe3O7and Yb3Fe4O10

Abstract

The modulations from the ideal crystal structures are detected for the non-stoichiometric compound YFe2O4 and related compounds such as YbFe2O4, Yb2Fe3O7 and Yb3Fe4O10 through the extra reflections in the electron-diffraction patterns. Those reflections observed in YFe2O3.91 might possibly be related to the characteristic magnetic behavior denoted as `parasitic ferrimagnetism'.
