Optimization of PID controller in AVR system by using ant lion optimizer algorithm

Abstract

In this paper a novel optimization algorithm is proposed for efficient tuning of AVR controller in a closed loop generator control model. Ant lion optimizer is applied for fine tuning of PID controller parameters through model simulation and testing. A proposed algorithm uses single objective optimization method for acquiring an objective function's minimum. Several testing cases are used for simulation purposes and in all these cases a novel optimization method is compared with other swarm intelligence algorithms which have already been implemented as AVR controller optimization methods.
