Wideband switchable frequency selective surfaces absorber/reflector

Abstract

A wideband switchable frequency selective surface (FSS) absorber/reflector for 4-8 GHz application is presented. Finite element method simulation shows that improved double split-ring's mutual effect along with coupled resonance could help achieve wideband switchable properties. Practical wideband absorption and switchable performances are accomplished based on series switches and isolative bias network. The measurement results show that the absorption of switchable FSS in the OFF state is wide and strong with a satisfied reflection in the ON state. The wideband switchable FSS absorber/reflector is valuable in the field of smart stealth system.
