Optimal power splitting in wireless powered communication network with two-way relay

Abstract

Wireless energy harvesting is an efficient way to prolong the lifetime of energy constrained networks. In this paper, we consider a wireless powered communication network (WPCN), where two source nodes exchange information via a relay node adopting a three time slots analog network coding (ANC). In this model, two source nodes both only harvest energy from relay node. Transmitting process is split into three time slots which have the same duration time. In the first time slot, relay node send energy signal to two source nodes using two directional antennas. In the second time slot, source nodes using all harvested energy send itself information signal to relay node, and relay node amplifies and forwards received signals to two source nodes in the third time slot. We study relay node how to split its energy to maximize information throughput of the system. Numerical results demonstrate maximum information throughputs and power splitting ratios of proposed model for different power attenuations.
