Abstract Two new bimetallic phosphates, namely, Sn 2 Ge(PO 4 ) 2 (OH) 2 ( 1 ) and anhydrous Sn 2 Mn(PO 4 ) 2 ( 2 ) have been prepared by a facile hydro/solvothermal method. Compound 1 crystallizes in space group P 2 1 /c and features a three‐dimensional (3D) framework which is constructed from one‐dimensional (1D) [Ge(PO4)2(OH)2] infinite chains and the SnO 3 trigonal pyramids. Compound 2 crystallizes in space group C 2 /c and also features a 3D framework which is composed of a two‐dimensional tin phosphates layer in the bc plane and MnO 6 octahedra connected with the adjacent layers. Powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) patterns, Thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), UV‐Vis‐NIR absorption spectra and IR spectra for both compounds were examined. TGA results show that anhydrous Sn 2 Mn(PO 4 ) 2 has a high thermal stability under 800 °C. Their photoluminescence study indicates that 1 and 2 might be pure inorganics for potential intrinsic green and blue light‐phosphors, respectively.
