Abstract

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), the study of how people interact with machines or specifically computers in an efficient manner, is of great interest from last few years because of several concrete applications anticipated in the near future, one such approach for computer interaction is static hand gesture recognition. The main aim of gesture recognition system is to detect the specific gesture of hand and use the information for a variety of applications. Current work deals with explaining the steps involved in vision-based automatic hand gesture recognition, along with elaborating some of the preprocessing, feature extraction and classification techniques.
