Novel approach for image reconstruction in low dose computed tomography

Abstract

We introduce a novel approach for 3Dcone beam image reconstruction in low dose Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). The novel approach is the combination of Feldkamp-Davis-Kreiss (referred as FDK) algorithm with Anisotropic Diffusion Filter (referred as ADF). ADF is one of the technique to remove the noise without the edge like important image contents. FDK with ADF provides better image quality than FDK. It provides low dose x-ray and decreases the acquisition time when the limited numbers of projection were applied.
