Stochastic modeling of rainfall-runoff with green-ampt infiltration model

Abstract

Infiltration plays an important role on surface and subsurface flow during rainstorm events. Over the years, many models have been proposed to quantify infiltration. From previous studies, significant variations of soil-water retention parameters for infiltration models are present. This implies that the quantification of infiltration could potentially subject to significant amount of uncertainty. This paper considers random nature of soil-water retention parameters in the Green-Ampt equation to quantify uncertainty features of infiltration and effective rainfall hyetograph. Based on the uncertainty analysis, important soil-water retention parameters are identified.
