Monolithic integrated optical vortex sorter based on cascaded metasurface structures

Abstract

Previous transformation methods for sorting of optical vortex are mostly based on separate spatial light modulators or custom refractive optical elements, which is simple, efficient yet bulky. Here we propose an experimental scheme for the fabrication of two-layer metasurface structures on both sides of a plate by optical alignment, which has relatively high alignment accuracy around 1 μm. Based on this approach, a monolithic optical vortex sorter composed of two-layer metasurface structures is demonstrated, which could be useful in optical or quantum communication using optical vortex beams.
