Miniaturized SIW sensor for liquid permittivity measurements

Abstract

In this paper a miniaturized Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) liquids sensor is presented. Half-Mode (HM) miniaturization technique is applied on the SIW resonator cavity. Sensor area is reduced by 50% in comparison to the conventional resonator. The complex permittivity is calculated using artificial neural network. The sensor is fabricated, experimental results shows acceptable matching with simulations. Sensor design is easy to be used, small and low cost. It could be applied in microwave industrial applications.
