Superthermal photon statistics in coupled photonic crystal semiconductor nanolasers

Abstract

In quantum optics, the statistical properties of the emitted photons define the nature of a light source. The black body is a well known example of source with large fluctuations and for which the statistics of the photon number is P(n) ≈ 1/〈 N 〉e -n /( n ), if 〈n 〉 ≫ 1 with second order coherence g 2 (0) = 2 (thermal light).
