Constrained least squares filter and wave atom transform using cycle spinning for image restoration

Abstract

Image restoration is the process of recovering clear version of an image from its degraded form. A novel algorithm is proposed here which uses constrained least squares filter for deconvolution followed by denoising using wave atom transform where cycle spinning technique is implemented to enhance the denoising capability of wave atoms. The advantage of this method is that it does not require a priori knowledge of the noise distribution and provides effective noise reduction for texture dominant images compared to existing restoration techniques. It restores medical images efficiently and therefore has wide application in the field of medical imaging.
