Abstract

In this paper, CdS modified BiVO4 photocatalysts with different molar ratios of Cd/Bi (0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%) were prepared by an impregnation method and characterized by BET surface area, X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic (XPS) techniques and surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS), respectively. The photocatalytic performance for decolorization of Rhodamine B (RhB) aqueous solution under the simulated solar light was evaluated, the results show that CdS modified BiVO4 with 1.0% molar ratio of Cd/Bi possesses the best photocatalytic activity and the underlying mechanism was proposed.
