Abstract

Come with me on a journey! It was the first day of May, the day of Beltane—an ancient fire and fertility festival of pre-Christian Europe, more commonly known as May Day. Over two dozen people in long, flowing robes of various colors gathered at my home to celebrate the height of spring and the promise of life and rebirth. There were flowers, smiling faces, and a pious ambiance of mystery and mirth.
