Study of a transformerless high step-down DC-DC converter

Abstract

A transformerless high step-down DC-DC converter is presented in this paper. The voltage-divider and switched-inductor techniques are employed to achieve high step-down voltage gain for the proposed converter. For the voltage divider, two capacitors with same capacitance are connected to the DC source. For the switched inductor, two inductors with same inductance are in series at the switch ON-period and in parallel at the switch OFF-period. The operating principle and steady-state analysis are discussed in detail. Finally, a prototype circuit is implemented to verify the performance for the proposed converter.
