Abstract

This is a large textbook weighing several kilograms. It is divided into 18 parts with a number of subchapters in each part. There are over 200 contributors many of whom are leaders in the palliative care world. Part 1 covers the development of this specialty including a geographical focus by continent with a chapter of possible developments.
