Efficient Use of Temperate Grasslands; Lessons from the United Kingdom and New Zealand

Abstract

Grassland is by far the largest single land use in the world and its efficient utilization is correspondingly important. This article assesses current levels of production from grass in the UK and New Zealand and the efficiency of the use of grassland as a resource. It indicates particular areas in which improvement might be expected.
