Abstract

This paper describes a tactile sensing method of static contact pressure and temperature of an object using piezoelectric and pyroelectric effect of a PVDF film. We made a PVDF film sensor constructed of two PVDF films for a vibrator and a receiver. Contact pressure and temperature characteristics of the sensor using static weights and thermal stimuli were investigated. Experimental results showed that the PVDF film sensor can sense the static contact pressure sensing and the object temperature by two kinds of output signals.
