Abstract

The external stimuli such as the applied force, electricity and temperature can play the significant role in the chemical or physical properties of the materials. The polymeric hydrogel has a large amount of fluid molecules which is a good candidate for the application in the biomedical or other applications. We have synthesized a novel polymeric hydrogel with shape memory effect called Shape Memory Gel (SMG). Despite the large fluid content, SMG shows high mechanical strength as well as good transparency both at room temperature and at high temperature. The internal structure and the mechanical properties have characterized by the Scanning Microscopic Light Scattering and tensile test, respectively and discussed here.
