Abstract

In this study, to monitor the grinding force without any dynamometer, the new monitoring index calculated from the rotational speed of the grinding wheel are proposed and compared to the previous monitoring index. The previous is calculated by Speed Difference Square Method and shows very strong correlation with the tangential grinding force. The new index is calculated by the method derived from viscous friction. This paper shows strong correlation between the new index and the tangential grinding force, as well as the previous index.
