Graphene: From Graphite to Graphene Oxide and Graphene Oxide Quantum Dots (Small 18/2017)

Abstract

In article number 1601001, Ling Huang, Wei Huang, and co-workers, report a temperature-controlled facile one-pot solvothermal method that allows selective synthesis of either pure graphene oxide, pure carbon dots, or pure graphene oxide quantum dots (GOQDs) using graphite as a starting material. The size of carbon dots (50–2.5 nm) can be precisely tuned by adjusting the reactants ratios. In addition, trace amount of Eu3+ and Tb3+ can be selectively distinguished by GOQDs.
