Gas chromatography has been one of the most practical methods cf gas and liquid analysis in these few years. For the purpose of throwing light upon the constituents of mine gases, the authors intended to use gas chromatograph. Its running conditions for snalysis of mine gases that were supposed to be composed of many kinds of inorganic and organic gases, were investigated and found as follows:(1) 02, N2, CO, CH4: column packing, Molecular sieve 5A; column length, 0.75m; temperature, 30°C; carrier gas, He 50cc/min.(2) H2: column packing, Molecular sieve 5A; column length, 0.75m; temperature 30°C, carrier gas, N2 25cc/min.(3) CO2, C2-C4 hydrocarbons: column packing, Dimethyl formamid; column length, 3m; temperature, 30°C; carrier gas He 25cc/ min.23 mine gases of 10 coal mines in Hokkaido district were analysed under the conditions described adove.
