The aim of this article is to visualise the role of\nsexual identity on the motivation and consolidation\nof the migratory process of gay and bisexual\nmen who live in Spain. For this purpose, a qualitative\nmethodology has been used, based on the\ncarrying out of 34 deep interviews to the same\namount of men living in different Spanish cities. It\nhas been established that, in some cases, sexual\nidentity appears as a decisive factor so as to start\nthe migration and, in some others, it is related\nto personal, social and family aspects from the\ncountry of origin as well as from the country of\ndestination. These aspects can consolidate the\naforementioned migratory process. Nevertheless,\nit has been made obvious that certain migratory\nprojects were justified under other sort of motivations,\nwhich were finally an integral part of a migratory\nprocess structured around the migrant’s\nsexual identity.
