Green Power Control in Underlaying Cognitive Radio Networks

Abstract

Energy-efficient green communication techniques are of special importance for cognitive radio networks (CRNs) in order to reduce carbon dioxide gas emission. This paper proposes an efficient algorithm for power control with QoS guarantee in the underlay green CRNs. The proposed algorithm allows us to underlay resource sharing where both primary users (PUs) and secondary users (SUs) coexist on the same geographical area and using the same spectrum band. It achieves three objectives: firstly, to maintain the interference with the PU within an acceptable level, secondly to ensure the required transmit power of SUs. The green power control is a fractional programming problem. Using the algorithm for subcarrier and power allocation an efficient solution of stated problem was obtained. Simulation results demonstrated that proposed algorithm is efficient and close to numerical results.
