Voltage regulators allocation in distribution networks system considering energy resources distributed

Abstract

This paper introduces a methodology to propose planned operational actions within a short-time horizon in distribution systems. This methodology considers real-load curves of distribution transformers and distributed-resources composed of photovoltaic and storage systems. This proposed methodology uses an electric power distribution System simulator (OpenDSS) along with MATLAB in order to execute the developed algorithm. Voltage regulators are installed in strategic places in order to maintain the voltage in each bus within the proper range. Furthermore, Volt/VAr in photovoltaic system is included in order to compare the impact of this technology during operational planning. This methodology is applied in 13 bus IEEE network. The results show a reduction in maximum demand when considering distributed resources and their impact on the voltage, current and losses of the entire distribution system.
