Distributed cooperative caching in backhaul‐limited small cell networks

Abstract

A novel distributed cooperative caching algorithm in backhaul‐limited small cell networks is proposed. Neighbouring small cell base stations (SBSs) cooperate to optimise caching decisions so as to minimise users’ downloading delay. Besides wireless channel statistics, the limited backhaul capacities of SBSs are incorporated. The problem is NP‐complete. A simple yet effective algorithm to reach a local optimal by virtue of potential game theory is developed. Simulations and analysis reveal improved delay performance and reduced complexity for the proposed algorithm compared with available schemes.
