Bidirectional cascaded quasi-Z-source DC-DC converter

Abstract

This paper proposes bidirectional cascaded quasi-Z-source dc-dc converter (BC-qZSC). Compared to the traditional cascaded quasi-Z-source network (C-qZSN), the diodes in C-qZSN are replaced by active switches with a parallel diode. BC-qZSC has the higher boost ability and the lower input current ripple than those of the bidirectional quasi-Z-source dc-dc converter (B-qZSC). In this paper, the operational principle, analysis, and experiment results of BC-qZSC are shown. Also, those of the voltage-fed B-qZSC in the regeneration mode are shown in order to compare BC-qZSC with B-qZSC.
