Investigations of surface flashover of insulators in vacuum and applications of vacuum insulators in pulsed power system

Abstract

This paper reviews surface flashover research of vacuum insulators. 'Bottle-neck' problem is discussed in the paper. Points out the relationship between scientific research and engineering application. Reviews the theoretical research results of surface flashover and describes fundamental experiment research methods. Then describes the applications of vacuum insulator in LIAs and Z-Pinch devices, respectively. And gives some examples. Especially, a few key points in VIS designing are listed and discussed.
