Analysis and control of single-phase series active power filter

Abstract

This paper presents a new algorithm to realize a series active power (SAPF) filter. The SAPF produced compensation voltage is controlled by the reference voltage signal generated form the load voltage and a reference voltage signal which is obtained through tracking municipal electricity. The control allows an effective correction of power factor, harmonic distortion, and load voltage regulation. The proposed system has been studied using computer simulations. The simulation results proved that this SAPF keeps the line current close to sinusoidal and the power factor near to 1. The proposed SAPF is fast acting and simple in design.
